By Tom Prendergast

The Tri-Valley Tigers won the 2000 Father & Son World Series when they defeated the Washington DC Nationals, in an exciting 7 - 5 come from behind victory. Tri-Valley pitcher Colin Jones picked up the win, and reliever Dave Hamilton got the save. The lead changed hands several times during the game. The Washington DC Nationals scored one run in the first four innings. The Tigers made it 4 - 4 after four and 5 - 5 after seven innings. In the top of the eighth Tri-Valley Tigers batter, Jason Kayricou hit a ball that got over the head of Washington DC center fielder, Josh Brock, scoring Colin Jones from third. As Kayricou was rounding second he noticed that center fielder Brock was having trouble finding the ball so he hit the after burners and beat the throw home for an inside the park home run. This gave the Tri-Valley Tigers a two run lead and a huge surge of momentum, which as it turned out was all they needed to win their first championship.
